How To Make Tacos 

Hello 

Hello and welcome to The Homesteading Kid. Today I am making tacos with my mum and sister. And in this blog, I am showing you how to do yourself. So, let’s get stuck in. 

Ingredients 

For the Tortillas 

Serves 8

• 4 cups of corn flour 
• 4 cups of hot water 
• 1 teaspoon of sea salt 

For the Filling 

• 1 kg beef mince 
• Spices (to taste) 

For the Salad 

• Iceberg lettuce 
• 4 Carrots 
• Olive oil and vinegar (for salad dressing) 

Method 

To Make the Filling to Put Inside the Tortillas (Tacos)

1. Put the beef mince and spices in a saucepan and put on a medium to high heat to brown 
2. When brown turn down to low heat stirring occasionally until ready to serve 

To Make the Salad 

1. Put the lettuce into the bowl 
2. Grate the carrots into the bowl 
3. Put on the table with oil and vinegar nearby 

To Make the Tortillas 

1. In the morning mix the salt and the corn flour in a large bowl. Then slowly pour the hot water into the mixture until it is a firm and springy not wet and sticky or too dry. If it is too sticky put in a teaspoon of corn flour at a time, or if it is too dry put in a teaspoon of water at a time 
2. Leave it in the bowl covered with a damp tea towel until ready to cook 
3. Make the dough into balls 
4. When ready to cook heat up a griddle or cast-iron skillet on medium heat 
5. Put 1 of the balls in between 2 pieces of grease proof baking paper and flatten using a rolling pin 
6. Put them in the pan when the top looks cooked (which takes about 1 minute) flip over and heat the other side for about 1 minute 
7. Repeat for the other tortillas 
8. To keep the tortillas warm while preparing the other bits wrap them in kitchen foil and put them in a 120C oven when you are ready to serve take out of the oven and put on a plate 
9. Ta-Da. You have completed making this meal, now the only thing left to do is eat it
